On June 16, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits met with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Abkhazia in Rostov-on-Don, Adik Arshba.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Odissei Bigvava, Assistant to the Minister Dmitry Amichba, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alisa Barzania.

During the meeting, Abkhazian Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits noted that working contacts with the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Abkhazia in Rostov-on-Don are ongoing and highly intensive.

"I would like to thank you for your diligence and efficiency. We are always aware of all the events and operational details that are crucial for continuing our high-level cooperation with the Rostov Region, so that all issues arising in our interactions, including those important and sensitive to our citizens, are constantly addressed and remain in the spotlight," he said.

Oleg Bartsits expressed special gratitude to Adik Arshba for his close contacts with the Rostov Abkhazian Diaspora, emphasizing its high number and great authority.

"The Diaspora is headed by Viktor Shamilovich Khashba. I received him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We had a very productive conversation. He fully acquainted us with the Diaspora's work, as well as the progress of our interactions with the Honorary Consulate and with you personally," the Minister emphasized.

Adik Arshba, in turn, noted that the Consulate's work in Rostov-on-Don has been systematic and ongoing for several years.

He added that, despite certain situations requiring additional attention, the necessary measures are taken promptly to address all urgent issues that arise.

"We strive to take all necessary steps promptly, as instructed by you. I believe we are succeeding. Sometimes, of course, the media perceives a certain lack of information. But, as you correctly noted in your interview (for AGTRK), the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not always have to be for all to see," he noted.

Speaking about relations with the Abkhazian Diaspora in Rostov, he emphasized that this cooperation has been developing successfully and becoming increasingly active in recent years.

"We strive to promptly address issues related to supporting and protecting our citizens, education, economic partnerships, as well as issues arising in the area of ​​business contacts," he noted.

During the conversation, given the significant number of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia living and studying in the Rostov Region, the importance of further improving consular and legal support mechanisms was noted. In this context, the parties discussed specific issues related to ensuring consular protection for citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia, including those related to I. Bzhinava, a citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Adik Arshba also thanked Oleg Bartsits for his attention to his work in the Rostov Region and emphasized that ongoing communication with the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contributes to strengthening cooperation.

Following the meeting, a commitment to further cooperation in all areas of mutual interest was confirmed.
