Oleg Bartsits, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia, sent a note to the Co-Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Nicaragua, Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres and Waldrack Ludwing Jentzke Whitaker, on the occasion of the 18-th anniversary of Nicaragua's recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia. 

It is noted, in particular:

"The decision taken on September 3, 2008, was an event of exceptional political significance for the Republic of Abkhazia and marked the beginning of a new stage in relations between our countries. Abkhazia remembers with deep gratitude the principled position of the Nicaraguan leadership and the personal contribution of Commandant Daniel Ortega, who supported the right of the Abkhaz people to self-determination. 

Over the past years, a solid legal framework has been established, a stable political dialogue has been established, and cooperation has expanded across a wide range of areas. We highly appreciate the Republic of Nicaragua's support on international platforms and the shared approaches of our countries to issues of sovereignty and the equality of peoples.

I am convinced that the accumulated potential of bilateral cooperation creates excellent opportunities for the further expansion of trade, economic, and humanitarian ties, interagency contacts, and the implementation of joint initiatives. I am ready to continue to facilitate direct and trusting dialogue between the foreign ministries of our countries."

Oleg Bartsits wished Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres and Waldrack Ludwing Jentzke Whitaker good health and well-being, and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the Republic of Nicaragua.
