A meeting with the Co-Chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia was held at the MFA of the Republic of Abkhazia

On June 4, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia between Deputy Foreign Minister Odissei Bigvava and the Co-Chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia: UN Co-Chair Khaled Khiari, EU Co-Chair Magdalena Grono, and OSCE Co-Chair Christoph Ernst Špäti. 

Representing the Abkhazian side, the meeting was attended by officers of the MFA: Lasha Avidzba, Artur Gaguliia, Saria Dzhopua, Astanda Pataraya, and Levan Gadlia. 

During the consultations, the parties discussed in detail the agenda for the upcoming 67th round of the International Discussions, which will take place from June 30 to July 1, 2026. A shared understanding was reached that maintaining this format is essential for ensuring stability at both regional and international levels.

Particular attention was paid to providing solid security guarantees during the meeting. The Abkhazian side reiterated the need to sign a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia. 

Deputy Foreign Minister Odissei Bigvava noted that agreeing on and signing this document is the key goal of the Discussions. 

The parties confirmed their intention to continue exploring ways to resume the work of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM). 

Following the meeting, the participants addressed pressing humanitarian issues, including ensuring freedom of movement and other aspects requiring joint discussion.
