On July 1, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Deputy Minister Iraklii Tuzhba received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Iraklii Tuzhba congratulated Vyacheslav Gladkov on his appointment and wished him success in his future endeavors.
"Abkhazia highly values the level of friendly and fraternal relations that have developed between our countries and peoples. Relations between our countries are at the highest point of interstate cooperation and are characterized by a strategic alliance," he noted.
He also emphasized that thanks to the assistance and support of the Russian Federation, we are successfully addressing issues of security and stability in the Republic of Abkhazia, implementing socioeconomic projects, and developing cooperation in education, healthcare, culture, agriculture, and tourism.
"Our legal framework continues to expand and strengthen. Over the past years, more than 250 agreements in various fields have been signed between our countries. These include interstate agreements, agreements at the level of governments, ministries, and agencies, as well as agreements with regions of the Russian Federation," he noted.
Iraklii Tuzhba expressed confidence that Vyacheslav Gladkov's extensive experience will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
"We are confident that your extensive administrative and managerial experience in high-level positions in the Russian Federation will enable us to promptly resolve all the challenges and this will give additional impetus to our bilateral relations," Iraklii Tuzhba noted.
In turn, Vyacheslav Gladkov thanked Iraklii Tuzhba for the warm welcome.
"It is undoubtedly a great honor for me to come to the Republic of Abkhazia. I have been instructed by the President of the Russian Federation to head the Embassy. I am grateful to have for this privilege. I hope that our joint work will benefit our two fraternal peoples - the Abkhazian and the Russian. There is only victory ahead of us, and our peoples await it," he emphasized.
Following the presentation of copies of their credentials, an exchange of views took place on current issues on the bilateral agenda.
